Mexico Clubs Threaten 2026 World Cup Cuts

The Mexican Football Federation has threatened to drop Liga MX players from the 2026 World Cup squad if they do not attend a mandatory training camp in Mexico City, which clashes with league play‑offs and Champions Cup matches.

The FMF has announced that any domestic player who fails to report to the High‑Performance Centre in Mexico City by 8pm on 7 May will be excluded from the World Cup squad. The camp, starting 6 May, falls outside FIFA’s international window and conflicts with Liga MX playoffs and Concacaf Champions Cup fixtures. 12 of the 20 selected players are already guaranteed a place in the squad, but the federation is warning the rest that attendance is mandatory. Mexico will announce its final squad on 1 June and begin tournament play on 11 June. catcross.biz
