He admitted that the game played at Bingu National Stadium exposed his team’s deficiencies, as they had never lost any games across all competitions.
“We want to win and win well ahead of the second leg in Senegal…the energy in camp is also very high…”

FALCONETS BOSS ADUKU TARGETS WORLD CUP GLORY AFTER MALAWI TEST
“This team has never lost a game, including friendlies, but the Malawians have shown us that there is some work to do, and we are going to do this because we are not going to the World Cup just to participate, but we want to contest for the cup, so we have a lot of work to do,” Aduku said.
The Falconets’ mentor observed that the Junior Scorchers’ performance is fresh evidence of the unprecedented growth of women’s football in Africa.
“In Africa [women’s football], there is no pushing over again. Everybody is growing rapidly, and Malawi is no exception. With a little push and a little encouragement from the league body, I think they will go places. They need not to be discouraged because Nigeria has been there from inception, so you cannot expect them to just go out,” the coach added.
The Falconets lost 2-1 to Malawi’s Junior Scorchers in Lilongwe but still booked their Under-20 Women’s World Cup final place via an aggregate score of 3-2, thanks to a home first leg 2-0 victory.
During the game, Faith Chinzimu scored the opener for Malawi in either half while Oscar Precious reduced the arrears for the visitors to qualify for the World Cup scheduled for Poland in September 2026.
Mtetemera reflects on derby defeat: Wanderers will bounce back
Mighty Wanderers FC assistant coach Macdonald Mtetemera has reflected on their 1-2 loss to bitter rivals FCB Nyasa Big Bullets in Lilongwe on Sunday, 10 May 2026.
Mtetemera has vowed that the Nomads will learn from the FDH Premiership’s uncharacteristic slip-up at Bingu National Stadium and bounce back to defend the league title.
Speaking to his team’s website, the right-hand man for head coach Bob Mpinganjira, insisted that they lost the Blantyre derby out of sheer absence of luck and not due to poor performance.
“Well, that is football—you can win, draw or lose,” said Mtetemera. “I congratulate Bullets FC for the win. They played well, and we played even much better, but luck was not on our side. We will go back to rectify our mistakes and come back stronger.”

Wanderers, who are also called the Nomads, were punished for poor finishing, with the People’s Team showing their efficiency upfront to convert their scoring opportunities through captain Blessing Mpokera and Maxwell Gastson in either half.
Substitute Promise Kamwendo pulled one back for Mpingajira’s side, which hit the post thrice in the second half.
The latest defeat sent the defending champions down the ladder to ninth position with three points from two games.
Their rivals climbed to the summit of the 16-member FDH Premiership table with seven points from three games after having played one game more than Wanderers.
Three red cards, three goals
The game produced three red cards. Tempers flared up as Bullets bench remonstrated against referee Mayamiko Kanjere’s decisions. In the heat of the moment, Bullets team manager Noel Kaole was shown a red card.
There was more drama as Wanderers winger Gaddie Chirwa and Bullets striker Gasten got straight marching orders after they fouled each other in an off-the-ball incident.
Pirates’ Ouaddou heaps praise on Maswanganyi and Chaine
Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou praised forward Patrick ‘Tito’ Maswanganyi after his excellent form has helped the Buccaneers in their bid to beat Mamelodi Sundowns to the Betway Premiership title.

Playing in the number 10 role behind Evidence Makgopa, Maswanganyi grabbed the opener in Pirates’ 3-0 win at Magesi FC on Saturday.

The victory lifted the Buccaneers to within three points of Sundowns at the top of the table. ‘Tito’ had lost his place in the Pirates starting line up but has bounced back with two goals and an assist in Pirates’ last two games.
“I think it’s fantastic for first of all for him and … for the club,” said Ouaddou.
“When you play that position, I think it’s what we expect from him. I’m very proud of him. I think he has tried to find now his feet … the beginning of the season maybe the way that I wanted to play, it was a little bit high intensity.
“But now he gets it … he knows exactly the expectation, especially in the position that he’s playing. He can score, he can deliver assists.
“He helped the team too much in the control of the ball, especially in the heart of the game. It’s very important to have this kind of player.”
In their own hands
The Buccaneers have a game in hand on Sundowns, and will know exactly what they have to do in their last two matches, as Sundowns finish off their Premiership season at TS Galaxy this evening.
Pirates will then play Durban City at home on Saturday and ORBIT College away on May 23.
It is unfortunate that the two sides, in such a heated title race, cannot play their last fixture at the same time. But Sundowns are playing in the Caf Champions League final against FAR Rabat over the next two weekends.
Ouaddou, meanwhile, was also delighted for goalkeeper Sipho Chaine after he broke a Premiership record as he kept a 19th clean sheet on Saturday.
“He is one of the best goalkeepers in Africa, not only in this country. He is up there with Ronwen Williams and Brandon Petersen,” said Ouaddou.

Kenya Police head coach Muyoti regrets ‘loosening the cuffs’ on Gor Mahia
NAIROBI, Kenya, May 11, 2026 – Kenya Police head coach Nicholas Muyoti has bemoaned his team’s lapse in concentration in Sunday’s FKF Premier League tie against Gor Mahia at the Nyayo Stadium.
Muyoti laments that his players let their feet off the pedal, which invited their opponents to set camp in their defensive half.
“Tactically we were on point except for the second half where we did not get it right. We sat back in our half and invited them to attack us, which eventually proved detrimental. Otherwise, I am proud of them, they defended well even though they should not have sat back,” Muyoti said.
The league defending champions took the lead through Brian Chonjo’s scrappy finish in the 22nd minute, after Eric Zakayo’s freekick had taken a deflection off a myriad of bodies in K’Ogalo’s wall.
The league leaders went incessantly in search of an equaliser and were rewarded in the 86th minute when the ball fell kindly to Ebenezer Assifuah in the danger area, off of Shariff Musa’s initial cross.
The Ghanaian wasted no time to fire from close range for a share of the spoils with the law enforcers.
With Charles Akonnor’s charges bearing down on their penalty box, Muyoti made a number of substitutions, bringing on Edward ‘Ondimo’ Omondi for the goalscorer, Baraka Badi for Zakayo, Marvin Nabwire for Tobias Otieno and dangerman Yves Koutiama for Clinton Kinanga.
The ex-Nairobi United and Nairobi City Stars gaffer was quick to defend the changes as a reason for their loss of concentration.
Muyoti said the substitutes fitted in seamlessly into the game.
“The subs were good because they came in at a time when we were dominating possession although going forward, we were lacking the punch needed to make an impact. That is something we also need to work on,” he said.
With three games to the end of the 2025/26, Afande are mathematically out of contention for the league title.
Regardless, Muyoti insists the team will aim for continouos improvement in each of their remaining fixtures.
“We still have more work to do because the season is not over. We want to work hard until the final game of the season. We will go back to the drawing board and prepare for the upcoming match. We will keep working hard until we get the tactics right,” the former Harambee Stars player added.
Police, who lie third on the log with 58 points, next face Bandari in the league.
They are also in which a chance of silverware, particularly in the FKF Cup where they face the dockers in the semis.
